CorasWorks Announces New Project Portfolio Management Solution for Microsoft SharePoint
Solution includes Robust Project/Portfolio/Program Management Features, Social PPM, and Resource Management
Reston, VA – August 25, 2010 - CorasWorks Corporation, a leading provider of business solutions and applications on Microsoft SharePoint, today announced its new Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Solution v2.0 for Microsoft SharePoint.
PPM v2.0 includes a robust set of core modules that allows organizations to manage the full project lifecycle. It also gives users the ability to manage multiple projects as portfolios or programs. With PPM v2.0, users can:
- Govern the project proposal process to ensure you are investing in the right projects
- Manage, track and report against individual projects to ensure they are on time and on budget
- Group your projects into portfolios and programs and manage overall portfolio/program performance
- Manage resources for a single project and across all your projects, portfolios, and programs.
“PPM includes all the core modules and features our customers and prospects have come to expect for managing their individual projects,” said Dan Naselius, Chief Operating Officer at CorasWorks. “However, we know that all these customers and prospects have more than one project they need to manage. We’ve designed PPM to not only provide for managing individual projects, but for also managing portfolios of projects or all of the projects associated with a program.”
In addition to improving and enhancing an already robust feature set, PPM v2.0 includes several new modules:
- Internal Project Planning and Scheduling – The Schedule Management module now includes the ability to create your project schedule/work breakdown structure and then display that schedule through an interactive Gantt chart. The scheduling features also include auto-calculation of dependencies, critical path, and more.
- Resource Management – The new Resource Management module gives organizations the ability to now track resources for a single project or across multiple projects. Resources can include people or roles, or even physical resources, such as conference rooms or audio visual equipment. Resource data can be visualized to give managers an easy way to see who or what is available.
- Social PPM – PPM v2.0 also introduces Social PPM to SharePoint. With the social PPM features of PPM, users can now establish online communities for projects, portfolios, or programs giving projects contributors and others the ability to post information, comment, rate, and collaborate on specific things.
“People are probably the biggest part of any project,” said Naselius. “So much of PPM technology maps to the processes and artifacts of PPM, and not necessarily to the people working on those projects. So we’ve introduced Social PPM so that now everyone associated with a project can collaborate online about that project. It’s a new piece to PPM that is rapidly adding power and value for project teams.”
PPM v2.0 integrates with Microsoft Project and can be accessed from any mobile device, including iPhones, Androids, Blackberries, or Windows Mobile Devices. The Solution runs on either Microsoft SharePoint 2007 or SharePoint 2010.
